How did small town Villa San Carlo Restaurant win the 2015 TripAdvisor’s prestigious Certificate of Excellence? Who were behind the reviews?
They were none other than happy customers who gave Villa San Carlo the Five-Star rating. “This is a great and unexpected surprise. We are honoured to be awarded the certificate as this endorses our valued diners’ satisfaction,” says Carlo Zarri, chef and owner of Villa San Carlo Restaurant.
Zarri’s culinary expertise and multi-linguistic skills has earned him management positions at several Olympics Games and major food events like Milan Expo 2015. His client list includes Ferrari-Maserati Auto Group and celebrities like Actress Sophia Loren and Fashion Designer Georgio Armani.
For four generations, the Zarri family has been pampering their guests with Piedmontese cuisine and hospitality. It comes as no surprise that diners travel to Cortemilia just to experience the cuisine and hospitality of Villa San Carlo Restaurant. The cosy 25-seat restaurant is a gourmet destination in its own right.
Cortemilia is about 200 kilometres from Milan airport. The community is tucked away in the Upper Lange countryside of Cuneo province in Italy’s Piedmont region. According to Google Earth, Cortemilia is smacked right in the centre of the earth. Driving from Milan airport to Cortemilia is an adventure, but the experience is well worth it – delicious food, gracious hospitality and magnificent natural landscapes. Truly a treasured experience!
Zarri’s scrumptious dishes are created from fresh, locally produced Piedmont products like truffles, hazelnuts, mushrooms, chestnuts, cured meats and cheeses. He adds a modern twist to his traditional Piedmontese recipes. This December, he will return to Canada and the United States to host the Annual Truffle and Hazelnut Dinner at various dining establishments.
